Training that entrepreneurs can do anywhere, anytime

The Challenge

The overarching goal of this project was to provide support for entrepreneurs in Aotearoa who are in the very early stages of business start-up. CreativeHQ, with funding from Callaghan Innovation, wanted to develop a series of online short courses that busy potential and existing founders could use to learn foundational start-up topics in their own time. The training needed to give learners the experience of what it's like to be a founder in Aotearoa.

Our solution

We developed the content for the modules collaboratively with the client, and used video interviews with successful Kiwi founders to explain key concepts. We developed two animated characters who accompany founders throughout their learning journey and help them complete the various activities.

Te Reo Māori, whakatauki and karakia are woven into the modules to make the modules more inclusive and to give them a unique Aotearoa look and feel.

We also developed a unique and bespoke design for their learning management system (LMS) to attract users and signal the innovative, world-first approach of this pre-incubation programme.

Impact

Over three years, we developed a suite of 17 interactive modules, which empower founders with free and simple resources to gain the basic knowledge and skills they need to start a business in Aotearoa New Zealand. The modules help make the complex process of starting a startup accessible and achievable. Given that 97% of companies in our country are small businesses, helping start-up founders will boost our economy, create jobs, and benefit us all!
